Any experience with Vredestein tires? Like the Sportrac 5

You don’t hear too much about them, except occasional talk about their Sprint Classic tires for vintage cars. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear about their Quatrac 5 all-season tire (they were the first to make an all-season tire with the mountain-and-snowflake)

But nothing about their standard modern-car tires. Like the Sportrac 5 high performance summer tire. The EU Tire Label is C for fuel economy, B for rain, and 70dB noise. The UTQG is 300 A A. Offered in H and V speed ratings. Size 205/65-15

I’m thinking about separate summer and winter tires, but this is the only summer tire in my size, and only sporadic availability in the US.

And even if I don’t end up using it, perhaps the info can still be useful to anyone else considering Vredestein.

Otherwise, my all-season tire will be the Falken Ziex ZE950 (W-rated). Does anybody have experience with these?

Winters aren’t too bad. It snows a couple times a year, but the roads are plowed within a couple days, so I’d say maybe 5-10 days where snow tires would be of most benefit.

I know the Sportracs are generally well received by testers here in Europe/the Netherlands, though I don’t have any experience with them myself.

I do have the Snowtrac 3 as my winter tires, and I really like them, they are not overly noisy and they don’t add too much added rolling resistance like some winter tires do.

I used thier cycle tires for a while, they had super high pressure (140 psi) and we’re fast but I seem to recall then wearing out fast

I installed one set of them once upon a time. They seemed to be very high quality. The guy who bought them swore by them and never used anything else.

Had Vredesteins back in the 80s. Were great tires, fantastic traction, even wear characteristics and long life. If they are still getting great reviews I’d trust them. As for the Falkens I have those on my Ford Edge and they are super in winter and summer, wearing well, quiet, handle great but not as soft riding as a Michelin. However I’ll take them over my last Michelins HP Tours which sounded like a bad wheel bearings after 25k miles and didn’t have the same level of grip in snow.
